Ball Coise ~ Football

Football coaching is available on Saturday mornings for Taobh na Pàirce P1 to P7 girls and boys. We have coaching sessions in Pilrig Park for all ages in P1 to P7 and the older pupils sometimes have matches against other Edinburgh primary schools in various locations throughout the city, when Covid restrictions allow.

As well as weekly coaching, P1 to P4 have the occasional mini-tournament and the older children represent the school in the school football teams. Currently there is a senior boys football team and a senior girls football teams, made up of pupils from P4 to P7.

We welcome all Taobh na Pàirce children interested in playing and we coach them to learn and improve their football skills in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Schedule
We send out a weekly email with with scheduling details of coaching sessions and matches. Please sign up to our mailing list at the link below. Coaches will also email their own teams’ parents/carers ahead of matches/training.

Payment

***Note that there are no fees for 2020/2021 due to the much curtailed football coaching this year***

There is a suggested contribution of £20 for the year, to cover costs of equipment. If you have more than one child at football it is £30 two or more siblings. We are keen to encourage any child to give it a go for free to see if they enjoy it before committing to going regularly! We are also committed to offering football regardless of ability to pay. We have also reduced the cost in 2019/20 from previous years.

We would prefer it if you pay directly into the Ball Coise bank account – SBC Taobh na Pàirce, Account number 00176834 and sort code 83-18-28. Put your child’s name as a reference so we can identify you!

Calling all budding  coaches!
All of the coaches are parent volunteers. We would welcome any parent who would like to become a coach!  No great knowledge of football is required, although you will be offered the opportunity of an SFA ‘Early Touches’ 1-day coaching course, plus a PVG certification (Required and will be arranged via the school). The main skill required is directing a number of small children! We have a menu of set drills typed up and the other more experienced coaches will keep you right. It is very rewarding!
